Philippines wins most awards in Asia category for World's Most Attractive Islands


Cebu Island and the Visayas Islands took first place in the "World's Most Attractive Islands - Asia Category" category. Cebu Island is known as one of the world's best resort islands. Also from the Philippines, Palawan Island ranked 4th, Siargao Island 5th, and Boracay Island 6th. This is the highest number of islands/areas in this category compared to other Asian countries.


The magazine said, ``Cebu Island, located in the heart of the Philippines, attracts millions of tourists each year to the beaches and diving spots on the island's northern coast. The influence remains strong, and the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño Church has historical artifacts such as a statue of Jesus Christ that was a gift from the Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan.''

"The Philippines is blessed with the best natural scenery, and we are pleased to have our islands and beaches recognized consecutively by Condé Nast Traveler, the world's most renowned travel and tourism magazine. This award gives confidence to the Philippine Tourism Department as we continue to implement strategies and preparations to gradually resume domestic tourism and welcome international travelers again when the global situation improves."

In this vote, Cebu Island and the Visayas Islands are grouped together as one area, but Boracay Island in Western Visayas is classified as a separate area.


Last year, three islands from the Philippines were ranked in the same category: Boracay in first place, Cebu Island and the Visayas in second place, and Palawan in fourth place. This year, Siargao Island was added to the list.
